Vice President and General Counsel

Matt serves as general counsel to CR Properties, LLC, a role he assumed in March 2019.  Matt oversees all aspects of real estate and corporate due diligence for the company, including drafting and negotiating purchase agreements and reviewing and analyzing entitlements, title documents, surveys, governmental incentives and licensing requirements.  Matt also handles company formation and governance, risk management and outside investor relations for the SPE formed to own, develop and manage the asset.  

Before joining CR Properties, Matt was a partner at Butler Snow LLP focusing his practice on real estate and finance.  He represented institutions of higher learning and Fortune 500 companies in acquisitions, leasing and divestitures of commercial real estate, multi-family, hospitality and retail developers in all aspects of real estate development and local and regional banks in the financing of large-scale, commercial projects.  Matt was listed in Chambers USA, America’s Leading Lawyers for Business beginning in 2009 and in Best Lawyers in America beginning in 2013 before joining CR Properties.  Matt is a graduate of the University of Mississippi School of Law and the University of Mississippi, where he graduated magna cum laude.  Matt and his wife Caroline have three children and attend Pear Orchard Presbyterian Church.
